  • Hornets' Mark Williams: Won't play Monday vs. Kings

Williams has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Kings due to left foot injury management.

With the Hornets beginning their back-to-back set Monday, Williams will be held out of the first leg in order to manage his left foot injury but should be available for the second leg Tuesday against the Warriors. He's played two games for the Hornets since his trade to the Lakers was rescinded and has averaged 10.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.0 steals over 25.0 minutes per game over that span. Jusuf Nurkic and Moussa Diabate should both see increased playing time Monday due to Williams' absence.

  • Hornets' DaQuan Jeffries: Out for Monday

Jeffries (knee) won't play in Monday's game against the Kings.

Jeffries will miss a third straight game due to right knee soreness. Tidjane Salaun could see an increase in playing time again with Jeffries sidelined.

  • Hornets' LaMelo Ball: Woeful in loss Saturday

Ball amassed five points (1-10 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 3-4 FT), four rebounds, two assists and one block in 22 minutes during Saturday's 141-88 loss to the Trail Blazers.

Ball had easily his worst performance of the season as the Hornets were played off the court by the Trail Blazers. Charlotte is once again playing for lottery balls following another underwhelming season, meaning Ball's availability could be spotty moving forward. He will continue to facilitate the offense when healthy, but as we saw here, the team's motivation could do with some tweaking.

  • Hornets' Wendell Moore: Tallies eight points in blowout

Moore recorded eight points (4-10 FG, 0-1 FT) and two rebounds over 22 minutes during Saturday's 141-88 loss to the Trail Blazers.

Moore scored at least eight points for just the fourth time all season, making the most of what was an embarrassing loss by the Hornets. Given Moore has played only twice in the past nine games, there is no reason to think this performance will lead to increased opportunity moving forward.

  • Hornets' Seth Curry: Logs 21 minutes in loss

Curry finished with six points (3-9 FG, 0-5 3Pt), one rebound, one assist and one steal across 21 minutes during Saturday's 141-88 loss to the Trail Blazers.

Curry saw a few extra minutes as the Hornets were soundly beaten in what was arguably the worst performance of the season by any team. Although Curry has had a couple of very brief flashes over the past month, his role is far too inconsistent to consider him a meaningful contributor.

  • Hornets' Jusuf Nurkic: Back to bench Saturday

Nurkic is not in the Hornets' starting lineup against the Trail Blazers on Saturday.

Nurkic will retreat to the bench Saturday due to the return of Mark Williams (conditioning) from a one-game absence. Nurkic started in Charlotte's loss to Denver on Thursday and finished with nine points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, one block and one steal over 19 minutes.

  • Hornets' Elfrid Payton: Returning to bench role Saturday

Payton is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Trail Blazers.

LaMelo Ball (ankle) is back in the starting unit, so Payton will return to his regular second-unit role. He's made four appearances (two starts) for the Hornets this season, averaging 1.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. He shouldn't have a lot of fantasy upside off the bench.

  • Hornets' Mark Williams: Will play Saturday vs. Blazers

Williams (conditioning) is not listed on the injury report ahead of Saturday's game against Portland.

Williams did not play in the second game of the Hornets' back-to-back set Thursday against the Nuggets due to conditioning, but he has been given the all clear to play Saturday. Williams is averaging 15.3 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.1 blocks over 25.2 minutes per game this season.

  • Hornets' LaMelo Ball: Fades injury report

Ball (ankle) is not listed on the injury report ahead of Saturday's game against Portland.

Ball was held out of Thursday's loss to the Nuggets due to right ankle injury management, but it appears the star point guard should be able to suit up Saturday. He's averaging a career-high 27.9 points per game this season along with 7.2 assists, 5.1 rebounds and 1.3 steals over 32.7 minutes. Ball's return will likely lead to Elfrid Payton retreating to the bench.

  • Hornets' DaQuan Jeffries: Ruled out for Saturday

Jeffries (knee) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Trail Blazers.

Jeffries will miss a second straight game for the Hornets while dealing with right knee soreness. Charlotte will likely turn to Tidjane Salaun to help pick up the slack against Portland.

  • Hornets' Moussa Diabate: Helps fill in for resting Williams

Diabate (eye) tallied 11 points (3-10 FG, 5-7 FT) and six rebounds across 29 minutes in Thursday's 129-115 loss to the Nuggets.

Though Jusuf Nurkic drew the start at center with Mark Williams (conditioning) resting for the second leg of the back-to-back set, Diabate saw the larger share of playing time. So long as head coach Charles Lee sticks with Nurkic as the top backup when Williams plays, Diabate looks like he'll be the odd man out of the rotation, as was the case in Wednesday's 100-97 win over the Lakers. Diabate was available for that contest but didn't play in a coach's decision after he had missed the Hornets' final game before the All-Star break on Feb. 12 in Orlando due to a right eye abrasion.

  • Hornets' Damion Baugh: Strong showing from second unit

Baugh supplied 14 points (6-7 FG, 2-3 3Pt), six assists and two steals across 32 minutes off the bench during Thursday's 129-115 loss to the Nuggets.

With LaMelo Ball (ankle) in street clothes, Elfrid Payton got the start at point guard, but it was Baugh who took advantage of the opportunity instead. In his first two NBA appearances, both with Ball out of the lineup, the TCU product has averaged 15.0 points, 4.5 assists, 2.5 boards, 2.0 threes and 1.5 steals in 29.5 minutes. The Hornets face another back-to-back set Monday in Sacramento and Tuesday at Golden State, during which Ball might get another night off, and Baugh would seem to be the better pivot option for DFS purposes.

  • Hornets' Elfrid Payton: Blanked in Thursday's start

Payton finished Thursday's 129-115 loss to the Nuggets with zero points (0-3 FG), two rebounds, three assists and two steals in 16 minutes.

Getting the start in place of LaMelo Ball (ankle), Payton made little impact and wound up seeing half the court time of Damion Baugh, who hit for 14 points and six assists off the bench. Ball might need more time off to manage his ankle issue -- the Hornets have another back-to-back set of road games Monday against the Kings and Tuesday at the Warriors -- but Payton hasn't shown he can be a reliable pivot in those scenarios.

  • Hornets' Nick Smith: Supplies 16 points in loss

Smith supplied 16 points (7-16 FG, 2-6 3Pt), one rebound and three assists over 33 minutes during Thursday's 129-115 loss to Denver.

The second-year guard continues to be productive as part of the Hornets' starting five. Aside from a Feb. 12 contest against the Magic in which he played just 16 minutes before being ejected, Smith has scored in double digits in seven straight appearances, averaging 18.0 points, 3.1 threes, 2.9 assists and 2.4 boards in those seven starts.

  • Hornets' Josh Green: Pops for season-high 19 in loss

Green closed Thursday's 129-115 loss to Denver with 19 points (7-13 FG, 5-8 3Pt), three rebounds, two assists and one steal across 27 minutes.

The fifth-year forward produced season highs in points and three-pointers, stepping into a bigger offensive role due to LaMelo Ball (ankle) being unavailable. Green has attempted 12 or more shots in each of the last two games Ball has missed, the only times he's seen that kind of volume since Dec. 13. Green has scored in double digits in seven of his last 11 appearances, averaging 10.7 points, 2.5 boards, 1.8 threes, 1.5 assists and 1.2 steals in 30.8 minutes a contest during that span, while shooting 53.7 percent from the floor and 45.5 percent from beyond the arc. If Ball needs additional time off to manage his ankle -- Charlotte plays another back-to-back set Monday in Sacramento and Tuesday at Golden State -- Green could be a strong DFS value option.
