  • Pelicans' Brandon Boston: Ruled out for Tuesday

Boston (ankle/illness) is out for Tuesday's game against the Spurs.

Boston continues to nurse both a sprained left ankle and a non-COVID illness, which will keep him off the court once again Tuesday. His next chance to return to action comes Thursday against Phoenix. Boston's absence against San Antonio should keep Jose Alvarado and Jordan Hawkins locked into meaningful roles off the bench.

  • Pelicans' Jose Alvarado: Teases triple-double in win

Alvarado finished with 12 points (4-8 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), nine rebounds and eight assists across 30 minutes off the bench during Sunday's 114-96 victory over the Spurs.

The nine boards were a career high for Alvarado as he came within a whisker of his first career triple-double. The fourth-year guard has returned to the bench coming out of the All-Star break, with Kelly Olynyk getting a look in the starting five instead, but the shift doesn't seem to have impacted Alvarado's usage or minutes. Over his last six contests, he's averaging 11.7 points, 6.3 assists, 4.5 boards, 2.0 threes and 1.8 steals in 29.7 minutes.

  • Pelicans' Karlo Matkovic: Career-best scoring effort

Matkovic registered 19 points (8-9 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six rebounds, one assist and one block across 21 minutes during Sunday's 114-96 victory over the Spurs.

The 19 points were a career high for the 2024 second-round pick, as Matkovic continues to see his role in the Pelican's frontcourt grow. He's played more than 20 minutes in six of eight February contests (two starts), averaging 8.8 points, 6.0 boards, 1.8 blocks, 1.4 steals, 0.6 threes and 0.5 steals in 23.5 minutes on the month. Even with Kelly Olynyk moving into the starting five alongside Yves Missi coming out of the All-Star break, New Orleans seems committed to getting Matkovic consistent court time.

  • Pelicans' Yves Missi: Pulls down career-high 15 boards

Missi closed with six points (3-9 FG, 0-2 FT), 15 rebounds and one assist in 23 minutes during Sunday's 114-96 win over San Antonio.

The 15 boards were a career high for the rookie center, marking the fourth time in the last nine games he's reached double digits in that category. None of those performances resulted in double-doubles, however, as Missi's offense remains a work in progress -- over those nine contests, he's averaging just 6.8 points while shooting 43.3 percent from the floor.

  • Pelicans' Kelly Olynyk: First double-double with NOLA

Olynyk had 14 points (4-7 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 5-6 FT), 15 rebounds and two assists across 25 minutes during Sunday's 114-96 victory over San Antonio.

The double-double was Olynyk's first of the season, while the 15 boards were his highest single-game total since April 2, 2023. The veteran big has seen a larger workload so far with the Pelicans than he had been getting with the Raptors, averaging 24.5 minutes in his first two starts for his new club, but with rookies centers Yves Missi and Karlo Matkovic both getting regular run right now, Olynyk's ceiling would seem to be capped.

  • Pelicans' Zion Williamson: Leads comeback win

Williamson registered a game-high 22 points (8-17 FG, 6-10 FT), nine rebounds, three assists, two blocks and two steals over 28 minutes during Sunday's 114-96 win over the Spurs.

The 24-year-old forward fell just short of his sixth double-double of the season, but Williamson topped 20 points for the eighth time in his last 10 appearances, a stretch in which he's averaged 27.1 points, 6.7 boards, 4.2 assists and 1.5 steals while shooting 61.8 percent from the floor. He's also missed two games during that span, one due to an illness and one for rest/conditioning reasons. However, if the Pelicans' maintenance plan for him can keep him from suffering another serious injury, Williamson seems poised for a big finish to the campaign.

  • Pelicans' Brandon Boston: Remaining out Sunday

Boston (ankle/illness) won't play in Sunday's game versus the Spurs.

Boston will miss his fifth straight contest as he continues to deal with a left ankle sprain and a non-COVID illness. Boston's next chance to suit up is Tuesday's rematch with San Antonio.

  • Pelicans' Yves Missi: Swats four shots in return

Missi (knee) recorded six points (3-8 FG), 10 rebounds, four blocks and one assist across 24 minutes in Friday's 111-103 loss to the Mavericks.

After hyperextending his right knee in the Pelicans' final game before the All-Star break on Feb. 13 versus the Kings, Missi was forced to withdraw from taking part in the Rising Stars game at All-Star Weekend in San Francisco. The week-long break provided Missi with sufficient time to heal from the knee injury, and he was back in action Friday as New Orleans kicked off its second-half schedule. The rookie made his mark on the defensive end, recording at least four blocks for the fifth time in 53 games.

  • Pelicans' Trey Murphy: Hits four threes Friday

Murphy finished Friday's 111-103 loss to the Mavericks with 20 points (7-19 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six rebounds, six assists and two steals over 36 minutes.

Murphy wasn't efficient from within the arc Friday, but he connected on 50 percent of his three-point attempts and was responsible for four of the Pelicans' three-pointers in the loss. Murphy is enjoying a career year in his fourth NBA season, and over his last 10 outings he has averaged 25.2 points on 50.3 percent shooting (including 46.3 percent from three on 8.2 3PA/G), 5.8 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 1.1 steals over 37.6 minutes per game.

  • Pelicans' Kelly Olynyk: Scores four points in debut

Olynyk logged four points (2-6 FG, 0-2 3Pt), three rebounds and three assists across 24 minutes in Friday's 111-103 loss to the Mavericks.

After being acquired from the Raptors on Feb. 5, Olynyk remained sidelined through the All-Star break but was cleared to make his Pelicans debut in the club's first game of the second half. He immediately slotted into the starting five, joining Zion Williamson and Yves Missi in the frontcourt. Though he didn't produce many counting stats, Olynyk finished with team-best plus-11 point differential. The 33-year-old big man will be worth tracking in the event he earns more playing time, but if he continues to stick in a 20-to-25-minute role, it may be tough for him to carve out much fantasy value outside of deeper formats.

  • Pelicans' Zion Williamson: Efficient scoring effort Friday

Williamson tallied 29 points (11-15 FG, 7-11 FT), seven rebounds, three assists and two steals over 27 minutes during Friday's 111-103 loss to the Mavericks.

Williamson was held out of the Pelicans' final game before the All-Star break due to rest purposes, but he was back in action Friday. He finished as New Orleans' leading scorer, though he was limited to just four points across nine minutes in the fourth quarter as the Pelicans went 8-for-22 in the final period. Williamson has scored at least 28 points in four of his last five outings, and over that span, he has shot 67.9 percent from the floor while averaging 5.6 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.8 steals over 27.2 minutes per game.

  • Pelicans' Kelly Olynyk: Starting Friday against Dallas

Olynyk is in the Pelicans' starting lineup against the Mavericks on Friday, Grant Afseth of DallasHoopsJournal.com reports.

Olynyk was traded by the Raptors to the Pelicans on Feb. 5 in a package centered around Brandon Ingram being sent to Toronto. Not only will Olynyk make his Pelicans debut Friday, but he'll be in the starting lineup alongside Zion Williamson and Yves Missi in the frontcourt. Olynyk is averaging 7.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists over 16.0 minutes per game this season.

  • Pelicans' Jose Alvarado: Coming off bench Friday

Alvarado is not in the Pelicans' starting lineup against the Mavericks on Friday, Grant Afseth of DallasHoopsJournal.com reports.

Alvarado has started in the Pelicans' last four games and has averaged 12.5 points, 6.5 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 2.0 steals over 29.5 minutes per game over that span. He'll revert to a bench role Friday while Kelly Olynyk gets inserted into the starting lineup.

  • Pelicans' Yves Missi: Good to go against Dallas

Missi (knee) is listed as available for Friday's game versus the Mavericks.

Missi is set to play Friday despite suffering a right knee hyperextension in New Orlean's final outing before the All-Star break. The rookie center averages 6.1 points, 7.7 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 26.8 minutes across his previous 10 appearances.

  • Pelicans' Zion Williamson: Off injury report for Friday

Williamson (rest) is off the Pelicans' injury report for Friday's game against Dallas.

Williamson is set to return to game action after missing the club's final outing before the All-Star break due to rest purposes. The big man has yet to surpass 30 minutes in a game since returning from an extended absence due to a hamstring injury, and over his last five outings, he has averaged 26.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 1.7 steals across 27.5 minutes per contest.

  • Pelicans' Jamal Cain: Not listed on injury report

Cain (illness) is not on the injury report for Friday's game against the Mavericks.

Cain is set to return following a two-game absence due to an illness. However, he hasn't been a regular member of the rotation even when healthy. The three-year forward has been limited to only 21 appearances off the bench this season while averaging 12.3 minutes per game, so his fantasy value is close to minimal.
