Spurs' Charles Bassey: Ruled out for Tuesday
Bassey (knee) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against New Orleans, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com reports.
Bassey will miss Tuesday's contest after exiting Sunday's loss to the Pelicans due to a left knee injury that has now been diagnosed as a bone bruise on his left knee. The club will be extremely thin at center with Victor Wembanyama (shoulder) also on the shelf, meaning Bismack Biyombo and Sandro Mamukelashvili are candidates for an increased role.

Spurs' Keldon Johnson: Hits for 18 in New Orleans
Johnson supplied 18 points (7-9 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds, three assists and one steal across 24 minutes off the bench during Sunday's 114-96 loss to the Pelicans.
With Victor Wembanyama (shoulder) lost for the season, there's a huge hole in the Spurs' offense, and Johnson has been the biggest beneficiary so far. The 25-year-old forward has scored at least 15 points in each of the first three games since Wembanyama went down, averaging 20.3 points, 3.3 boards, 3.3 assists and 1.7 threes in 26.3 minutes a contest while shooting an unsustainable 77.4 percent from the floor.

Spurs' Julian Champagnie: Pops for 18 off bench
Champagnie closed with 18 points (6-13 FG, 6-11 3Pt), four rebounds, four assists and two steals over 19 minutes off the bench during Sunday's 114-96 loss to the Pelicans.
No San Antonio starter produced more than 13 points on the night, leaving Champagnie tied with Keldon Johnson for the team scoring lead. It's the second time in three games since Victor Wembanyama (shoulder) was lost for the season that Champagnie has delivered 15 or more points from the second unit, and Sunday's six made threes tied his season high. His usage may be on the upswing, but the third-year wing has played fewer than 20 minutes in seven straight contests, putting a firm cap on his upside.

Spurs' Bismack Biyombo: Strong showing in loss
Biyombo closed with 10 points (4-6 FG, 2-5 FT), 10 rebounds, four blocks and two steals across 30 minutes during Sunday's 114-96 loss to New Orleans.
After two lackluster efforts as the Spurs' new starting center in which he didn't play more than 16 minutes, Biyombo got a full workload Sunday and responded with his first double-double since Nov. 12, 2023, and his highest combined block and steal total since Dec. 23, 2022. With Victor Wembanyama (shoulder) lost for the season, the 32-year-old Biyombo appears to be San Antonio's best option in the middle, and he's still capable of making an impact at the rim -- he averaged 1.1 blocks in 23.9 minutes over 30 contests last season for the Grizzlies.

Spurs' Charles Bassey: Tweaks knee, leaves early
Bassey has been ruled out for the rest of Sunday's game against the Pelicans due to left patellar tendon soreness, NBA reporter Matthew Tynan reports.
Bassey checked out of the game for good with two seconds left in the first quarter of Sunday's game, finishing with four points (2-3 FG), three rebounds, two steals and one assist in six minutes. The fourth-year center had previously missed six games earlier this month due to an MCL sprain of the same knee, though Michael C. Wright of ESPN.com relays that Bassey's latest left knee concern is considered unrelated. In any case, it wouldn't be surprising if Bassey needed to miss time on account of the injury. Bismack Biyombo, Sandro Mamukelashvili and Jeremy Sochan are likely to cover most of the minutes at center for the Spurs for the remainder of Sunday's contest.

Spurs' Charles Bassey: Receives 11 minutes in return
Bassey (knee) registered six points (3-3 FG), two rebounds and two assists across 11 minutes off the bench in Friday's 125-110 loss to the Pistons.
Bassey made his return after missing the Spurs' previous six games due to an MCL sprain in his left knee, joining a new-look San Antonio frontcourt that recently lost Victor Wembanyama (shoulder) for the remainder of the season. Rather than relying on a direct replacement for Wembanyama, the Spurs have thus far turned to a cadre of players to fill the minutes at center over the past two games, with Bassey, Bismack Biyombo, Sandro Mamukelashvili and Jeremy Sochan all factoring into the equation. On the rare occasions he's gotten extended minutes in the past in the NBA, Bassey has shown the ability to put up fantasy-friendly numbers, so his playing time and production will be worthy of monitoring over the next few games. A consistent 20-minute-per-game role could be enough to make Bassey an appealing option in 12-team leagues for fantasy managers in need of help in the field-goal percentage, rebounds and blocks categories.

Spurs' Keldon Johnson: Strikes for game-high 28
Johnson posted 28 points (11-13 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 5-9 FT), four rebounds and five assists across 30 minutes off the bench during Friday's 125-110 loss to the Pistons.
The 25-year-old forward led all scorers on the night, but it was in vain as De'Aaron Fox was the only other Spur to provide more than 10 points. Johnson could be one of the players who see their role and usage increase significantly in the wake of a season-ending shoulder issue for Victor Wembanyama -- after averaging just 15.4 minutes over the final five games before the All-Star break, Johnson has played at least 25 in the first two contests without Wembanyama in the lineup, averaging 21.5 points, 4.0 boards, 3.5 assists and 1.5 threes.

Spurs' De'Aaron Fox: Drops 27 against Detroit
Fox contributed 27 points (11-18 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, five assists and four steals over 30 minutes during Friday's 125-110 loss to the Pistons.
It was another big performance from Fox in the wake of a season-ending shoulder issue for Victor Wembanyama. Still, unlike Thursday's win over the Suns, the 27-year-old guard got almost no help -- the rest of the Spurs' starting lineup managed a combined 11 points. Fox has scored 20-plus points in seven of eight February appearances, averaging 22.6 points, 6.9 assists, 4.4 boards, 2.0 steals and 1.9 threes on the month while shooting 50.4 percent from the floor.

Spurs' Charles Bassey: Good to go Friday
Bassey (knee) is available for Friday's game against the Pistons.
Bassey missed the Spurs' last six games prior to the All-Star break due to a sprained MCL in his left knee. The 2021 second-round pick should see an uptick in playing time moving forward due to Victor Wembanyama (blood clot) being ruled out for the rest of the season.

Spurs' Keldon Johnson: Provides spark off bench
Johnson chipped in 15 points (6-9 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 1-1 FT), four rebounds and two assists over 25 minutes during Thursday's 120-109 victory over Phoenix.
Johnson and Julian Champagnie both led San Antonip's bench in scoring Thursday with 15 points each. While Johnson had slowly been receiving reduced playing time as of late, Victor Wembanyama being ruled out for the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign due to deep vein thrombosis in his right shoulder could open up more minutes for Johnson if the Spurs opt to utilize more small-ball lineups.

Spurs' Charles Bassey: Probable Friday
Bassey (knee) is listed as probable for Friday's game against Detroit.
Bassey will likely return from a six-game absence Friday due to a sprained MCL in his left knee. The big man will likely compete for playing time with Bismack Biyombo due to Victor Wembanyama (blood clot) having been ruled out for the remainder of the season.

Spurs' Bismack Biyombo: Lands second 10-day pact Friday
The Spurs signed Biyombo to a 10-day contract Friday, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com reports.
The Spurs signed Biyombo to a new 10-day pact after the expiration of his first 10-day contract. The veteran big man's only appearance was a spot start in Thursday's win over Phoenix, during which he recorded eight points (4-4 FG), three rebounds, two assists and one steal in 16 minutes. With Victor Wembanyama (blood clot) on the shelf for the rest of the season, Biyombo is a candidate to earn a contract for the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign.

Spurs' Stephon Castle: Double-double in Thursday's win
Castle recorded 10 points (4-12 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 2-4 FT), 10 rebounds, two assists and three steals over 26 minutes off the bench during Thursday's 120-109 win over the Suns.
After a strong all-around showing during All-Star Weekend, Castle kept his momentum by recording his first career double-double when the Spurs' schedule resumed. The fourth overall pick in the 2024 Draft lost his starting spot when De'Aaron Fox arrived from Sacramento, but Castle could be leaned on more heavily from the second unit with Victor Wembanyama (shoulder) out for the rest of the season. Castle's length in the backcourt could be very valuable as San Antonio shifts to more small-ball lineups. In six games off the bench, Castle has averaged 17.5 points, 4.0 boards, 2.3 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.2 threes in 25.0 minutes a contest.
