Browns' Juan Thornhill: In line to be released
Thornhill said Monday that the Browns have informed him he will be released at the start of the new league year in March, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Thornhill will be designated a post-June 1 cut, a move that will save Cleveland $3.2 million against the cap for 2025. The veteran safety has one year remaining on the three-year, $21 million contract he inked with the team back in 2023. Thornhill struggled with injuries during his Browns tenure, playing just 11 regular-season games in each of his two campaigns with the team. Down the stretch in 2024, Thornhill found himself splitting defensive reps relatively evenly with Ronnie Hickman.

Browns' Joel Bitonio: Contemplating retirement
Bitonio is deciding whether or not to retire and expects to inform the Browns of his decision before the start of free agency, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Bitonio has been in the NFL for 11 years and has been voted to the Pro Bowl each of the past seven seasons. He started in all 17 games for Cleveland last year and has missed just two regular-season contests since 2017. It would be a huge loss for the Browns' offensive line if Bitonio isn't part of the team next season, and Cabot adds that the left guard is "leaning a certain way" on retiring but isn't yet ready to share his decision.

Browns' Dawand Jones: Goes under knife
Jones (knee) is recovering from arthroscopic knee surgery and is currently using crutches, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports.
Jones landed on IR last November due to a season-ending broken fibula, and it looks like he was also dealing with a lingering knee issue that required surgery to address. He previously missed the final five games of the 2023 campaign, his rookie season, due to a torn MCL. Oyefusi reports that Jones will be available for the start of training camp late July.
